CONGREGATIONAL SUNDAY SCHOOL
ANNIVERSARY SERVICES. Anniversary services Were held in connection with the above school on Sunday and Monday of this week. On Saturday evening the church was decorated with flowers and greenery in readineea for the overflowing congregations which were present at all the services. As is usual on such occasions the children were much in evidence with their sweet singing, and, under the able leadership of Mr Armstrong, aided by teachers and a small orchestra, the musical portion of the services left little to be desired. Additional interest was given to the anniversary by the presence of the Rev. R. Mitchell, well beloved and known as the pioneer of religious work in this section of the King Country. Mr Mitchell gave of his best to t'na children and adults in the way of sermons and addresres. the evening sermon, based on Jeremiah v. 1, being a passionate appeal for true character and for real men. Many will never forgot the strong, manly words of Mr Mitchell. On Monday evening a socal gaihheving 'was held, over which the pastor (Rev. S. Griffiths presided. Solos, recitations. and short pithy addresses were given, the latter items being given by the Rows'. R. Mitchell, Rev. P. Battey. and Roy. H. J. Ralph (Pio Pio). The school secretary read the report of the year's work, which revealed the healthy condition of the school. Prizes were distributed and refreshments provided; the singing of the Doxoiogy and the pronouncement of the Benediction terminating the most successful anniversary services which have ever been held in Te Kuiti.
