PIO PIO.

Own Correspondent. A meeting of those interested in th* proposed Pio Pio - Mairoa loan was held last Wednesday, Mr G. Bevege presiding. The chairman explained the position intimating that at present the Advances Department could not advance more than £IOOO for any single loan, and as the proposal of the settlers was to borrow £2OOO the matter would have to be reconsidered. After considerable discussion it was resolved that an application for a loan of £IOOO be made i the money to be utilised for metalling as far as possible from Pio Pio onwards. The work done by the County Council at the corner of the Mairoa road is a great boon to all who have to use the road, and with a little more improvement the township will be kept fairly | free from mud. There are signs of progress on all hands and before long it seems as though further extensions to business places will be necessary. The rainfall in Te Kuiti for June, 1913, was as follows:—June Ist, 1.48 inches, 2nd .17, sth 1.34, 6th .49, 9th .26. 22nd .OS, total 3.28 inches on six days. The rainfall for June, 1911 and 1912 was 5.02 inches on 13 days and 8.81 inches on 19 days respectively. We are indebted to Mr T. E. Foy for the above figures.
