CRICKET.

The meeting convened for Wednesday evening at Te Kuiti for the j:>urpose of getting the cricketei'3 together was highly successful. Cricketers to the number of twenty assembled at the Chronicle office. Mr J. Steel was voted to the chair. On the motion of Mr Siinmon3, seconded by Mr Alison, it was unanimously decided to form a club to be called Te Kuiti Cricket Club. The election of officers was proceeded with, the following being appointed:—President, Mr N. C. Matthew; vice-preisdents, Messrs Foy Sharpies and Judge Holland; committee, Messrs Lusk, Allison, Simmons, Eeid and Pattison; secretary, Mr C. F. Turner; treasurer, Mr Taylor; selection committee, Messrs Lusk, Wallace and Owen. The subscription for the season was fixed at 10s Gd.

It was decided to form a working bee to assist in putting the wicket on the Domain in fit order to play on. The committee was authorised to obtain all necessary material as soon as sufficient funds were available.

The meeting was charged with enthusiasm and prospects for the game are extremely bright. It is intended to hold games on Thursday and Saturday afternoons throughout the season. It is anticipated that a sufficiently strong membership will be obtained to enable two teams to play so there is every indication that the game is to be established on a firm basis. Offers of assistance to the club were forthcoming, the first being from Judge Holland, who presented a bat, the offer being accepted with thanks.
