Two Customs officers, who boarded the steamer Strath Clyde at Lyttelton, in search of opium in the forecastle, were pelted by Chinamen with coal and forced to quit the vessel, after having taken possession of opium pipes and a small quantity of thedruc The officers escaped up the wharf from the yelling and dangerously excited mob. It is possible further proceedings will be taken.
