The Agricultural Conference at Wellington, carried a resolution: "That the Government be asked to invite schemes for a better system of earmarking sheep; that it be a recommendation to the Education Department that rudimentary agriculture be a compulsory subject in the curriculum of schools; that the policy of withholding from Native owners of land the opportunity of either occupying them under the same conditions as Europeans or disposing of them is detrimental to the settlement of the country; that the Government be requested to more stringently enforce the provisions of the Sheep Dipping Act."
