MINISTERIAL VISIT.

Acting-Premier's King Country Tour. In connection with the invitation extended to ike Hon. J. Carroll, Act-ing-Premier, i.y the To Kuit; Chamber of Commerce, a telegram was received from the Minister by the Secretary of the Chamber on Tuesday last, intimating that Mr Carroll, "would be leaving Wellington for Otorohanga and T--Kuiti on Saturday or Monday. It is understood that the Minister is to meet the representative Natives , at Otorohanga and confer with them ' on various matters affecting Native j interests. An endeavour is to be made j to have the Otorohanga meeting on Tuesday and to entertain the Minister at Te Kuiti on Tuesday evening. This programme was submitted to Mr Carrol! by wire, and a reply has been received to the effect that the Minister will endeavour to be at Te Kuiti on Tuesday. A number of matters will be brought before the Minister by deputations and a banquet will be tendered to the guest by the Chamber of Commerce at Mr H. E. Kerr's Boardinghouse. The subjects to be brought before the Minister by deputation are as follows : The necessity of making Native land contiguous to townships subject to the provisions of the Rating Act. The roading of Native lands and the request that the Government should metal the Te Kumi —Mairoa road from the railway to the Mangawhitikau stream, seeing that the road for that distance passes btrough Native land. The desirableness of having the machinery put in motion for the ac quiring of the freehold of township lands. The roading of Native lands already leased. The equity of making provision for the owners of township lands to assist in the meeting of interest on loans raised by the lessees for the improvement of the town. That the office of the Native Land Board should be established at Te Kuiti. That an early sitting of the Native Land Court be held at Te Kuiti.
