A policeman, seeing a youngster standing on the brink of one of the ;>onds in his domain, accosted the couth. "What's the matter. Tommy?" no queried. The youngster pointed to a boy's iiat which was bobbing up and down in tiie middle of the pond. "My bruvver " lie sobbed. But the brave bobby waited not to hoar more. In a flash he had divested himself of his coat, and waded into the ice-cold water. He reached the hat, and dived. He came up at last, but with the hat only. "Can't find him I" he gasped. "Where was he standing when ho fell in !" The boy gaped. "He ain't fell in," he said. "He's over there. I was going to toll you he throwed my hat into the pond, but you wouldn't lemme finish."
