KAEAEA.
(Own Correspondent.) On the 3rd instant, a very pleasan-t little function in the shape of a teameeting and concert, held in connection with the Sunday School, took place in the Kaeaea schoolroom. There was quite a large assemblage, upwards of sixty being present and no doubt this number would have been exceeded had the weather proved more cheerful. The catering had been undertaken by the local ladies on whom redounds unbounded credit for the splendid and bounitful spread provided. The tea was a marked feature of the occasion, and after young and old had brought their best efforts to bear in clearing the tables, an abundance of toothsome viands still remained when the tables were cleared in preparation for commencing the concert programme. "Quite a lengthy programme was gone through, the contributors there-to acquitting themselves in commendable style. Mr. G. Mears, Home Missionary, presided at the concert, and during the evening presented the children with prizes. At the close, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Smith, Sunday School teacher, for her efforts among the children in the Sunday School. The fact that this is the first function of the kind held in connection with Sunday School work in the district lends considerable honour to the occasion. After the close of the concert, certain cf the local youth and beauty, who were loth to leave the scene of festivity and mirth, cleared the floor and participated in the light fantastic with evident enjoyment until the small hours. Mr W. Malone efficiently acted in the capacity of M.C.
