Mokau-iti Branch.

A meeting of the Mokau-iti branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held at Kaeaea on the 10th Inst. Mr Elwood was in the chair, and the attendance of members was fair. A good deal of correspondence was dealt with, among which was a circular letter from the -Provincial Secretary, soliciting the support of branches to a fund being raised by the Colonial Executive for the pucpose of recognising the able service rendered to the farming community by Messrs Jones and Evans during the hearing of the Canterbury Farm Labourers dispute. The matter was discussed at length, members expressing sympathy with the proposal, but it was finally decided that owing to the its present low financial position, this branch was unable to give effect to the request. A suggestion put forward by Mr C J. Riddle that the branch should some time during the summer pay a visit to the Ruakura State Farm, met with unanimous approval, and Mr Williams moved, Mr Ellwood seconding that the secretary be instructed to communicate with Union branches at Te Kuiti and Otorohanga with a view to arranging a visit to the farm collectlvely.
