REPORTS FOR APRIL. The following reports for April have been received from the recording stations mentioned:— Kaikoura (Mr C. A. Jensen f: There were six rKin days during the month for a total of 3.49 inches, the maximum of 1.29 inches being recorded on April 24. Last year 8.97 inches of rain fell on nine days, and the maximum of 4.54 inches was recorded on April 25. For the four months of this year 10.58 inches of rain have fallen on 35 days, compared with 15.54 inches on 34 days for the same period in 1949. Mr L. H. U. Weavers reports ’that 5.22 inches of rain fell on 10 days, at Lynton Downs, with the maximum of 2.11 inches being recorded on April 24. Last year 9.61 inches fell on 10 days, and the maximum of 4.53 fell on April 25. There have been 32 rain days and 12.36 inches of rain recorded for the four months of this year, compared with 36 rain days and 14.72 inches for the first four months of 1949. - There were 10 rain days at Grange Road during* the month and 6.57 inches were recorded, reports Mr F. W. Emms. The maximum of 2.64 inches fell 24. During the same month last year 10.88 inches fell on 10 days, and the maximum fall was 2.99 inches on April 25. The rainfall for the four months of this year was 20.72 inches on 37 days, compared with 20.92 inches on 36 days during the same period last year.
