Residents are reminded of the auction sale of a tank, and timber, to be held at the Dairy Factory at 10 a.m. on Saturday. “The German armies have sustained some 900,000 casualties since the middle of May, when General Alexander began his brilliant leadership of the Italian campaign/’ said Mr Robert E. Sherwood, director of overseas branch of the United States Office of War Information, in a broadcast address on August 5. “Of these 300,000 are prisoners in Allied hands. The Allies’ master plan is unfolding with powerful effect on the continent of Europe.”
