NEW PRODUCE AGREEMENT
PRIME MINISTER ADDRESSES DAIRY CONFERENCE. WELLINGTON, August 3. New Zealand will receive lump sum payments from Britain amounting to £28,000,000 under the new dairy produce agreement which has just been completed, and in addition will receive an increased price for the season just closed representing another £4,500,000, and increased prices this season and next season. The United Kingdom Government has also agreed to payments under the Memorandum of Secuirty amounting Io £18,000,000 being suspended until after the war, when the question of payment will be reconsidered. These details were given to the Dairy Board Conference to-day by the Prime Minister (the l»’L Hon. P. Fraser). Mr Fraser said discussions on meat prices were continuing. On the question of how these additional credits were to be dealt with in the light of the stabilisation policy th • Prime Minister said this was a problem the Government would not wish to settle without consultation with the industries, and he invited both to set up committees to confer with the Stabilisation Commission on the apportionment of this money in terms of the stui ; ‘ ‘ ion agreement between the Government and the Farmers’ Federation.
