NO INCREASED TAXATION.
£40,000,000 VICTORY LOAN. WELLINGTON, August 3. There will be no change in taxation in New Zealand this year. The Financial Statement, presented in the House of Representatives this evening by the Minister of Finance (the Hon. W. Nash), provides for a reduction in war expenditure from the £152,900,000 last year to £133,000,000; for increases of £4,500,000 in the National Development programme, £1,223,000 in the expenditure from the Social Security Fund, £1,222,000 in the votes for social serv ices, and £1,010,000 in other votes.
