HOCKEY
MARLBOROUGH TOURNAMENT. The Kaikoura hockey teams which travelled to Blenheim to participate in the annual tournament games were very successful, winning the women’s junior and men’s senior and junior grade matches. The Kaikoura A schoolboys team, which also participated, was unforunate in not winning. After putting up a fine performance in the first two games it was eliminated in the third game by a more experienced team, the score being 2—l. The final games were as follows:
Women’s Junior: Kaikoura A 2, Beaver A 0. Women’s Senior: Picton A 2, Arotea 1. Men’s Junior: Kaikoura A 2, Rawhiti 1. This game was very even, time being extended to decide the contest. Men’s Senior: Kaikoura 6, Wairau B 0. Schoolboys’ Grade: Beaver A were the winners. The following were the winning Kaikoura teams:— Junior Women: J. McLeod, J. Strahl, M. Smart, E. Boyd, I. Scott, M. McLeod, and —. McLeod. Junior Men: J. Dooley, O. Guthrie, K. Burrows, J. Comer. M. Reardon, and M. Harris. Senior Men: G. Hoadley, I. Strahl, C. Scott, G. Scott, C. Ferry, and M. Comer.
