Entries for the Kaikoura Collie Dog Club’s trials close with the Sec-retar,y, Miss C. Keehan, at 8 p.m. on June 10. Chapman at the farewell to be held at the Drill Hall to-morrow night. A number of members of the Kaikoura Women’s Institute left on Monday morning for a tour of the Southern Alps. They are expected back on Saturday next. Among the names of missing soldiers published on page 4, is that of Sapper Robert Renie Shireffs, who resided in Kaikoura for some time, and took a keen interest in cricket and hockey. Mr A. E. Lester, who iv leaving Kaikoura, is disposing e > his choice dairy herd by auction of Friday next. The sale will be held at Mangamaunu, Messrs Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd., being the auctioneers. The death occurred at Masterton, on May 25, of Mrs M. C. Hare, wife of .Mr A. E. Hare, who for some time resided at Stag ap.d Spey, Kaikoura. After leaving this district Mr and Mrs Hare were engaged on Mr W. R. Stuart’s property at Masterton. On Friday night at the Suburban Hall the residents of Suburban, together with members' of the Kowhai Tennis Club, will hold a dance in aid of the Returned Soldiers’ Fund. Soldiers on leave and returned men will be the guests of the evening. A public farewell will be tendered to soldiers on leave at the Drill Hall tomorrow (Wednesday) night, and a welcome will be extended to men returned from overseas. All soldiers on leave and men returned from overseas are cordially invited to be present. It is hoped that there will be a huge crowd present to bid farewell to our soldiers.
