Freyberg, Commanderin-Chief of the Allied forces in Crete, is dead, is denied by the War Office, says a British Official Wireless message. The War Office states: “We arc glad to be able to announce that he is alive and with his troops.” According to a Berlin report, MajorGeneral Freyberg was killed in an aeroplane crash while he was on his way to Alexandria from Crete.
