FAREWELL

REV. F. AND MRS ROBERTSON.

A large and representative gathering assembled at St. Paul’s Hall on Friday night, on the occasion of the farewell tendered to the Rev. F. Robertson, 8.A., Mrs Robertson, and family. Mr J. K. Chapman presided and explained the object of the gathering. Games and community singing were indulged in, and vocal items were contributed by Miss V. Firkin, Messrs AV. E. Richardson, L. Firkin, and J. Carter, the accompanists being Mi's J. Carter, Miss Lang, and the Rev. Robertson. Mrs Robertson was presented with a bouquet of autumn-tinted flowers by Miss Fav Harrison.

Messrs J. K. Chapman. James Davidson, A. Brown, and the Rev. S. Corrney referred to the good work done by Mr and Mrs Robertson, and wished them every success and happiness in their new sphere of action.

On behalf of members and friends of the church Mr Davidson presented the guests with a cheque, on behalf of the Brass Band Mr A. S. Robinson presented a fountain pen and referred to the excellent services rendered to the Band and orchestra by the recipient; Miss Coombs presented small gifts to Malcolm and Gilbert Robertson on behalf of the Church committee; Master Neville Shannon, in a manly speech, thanked Mr Robertson for the many kindnesses to the Boys’ Brigade and asked him to accept a framed photograph of Kaikoura and a silver pencil as a token of the esteem in which he was held.

The Rev. Robertson expressed! thanks for the knd words of the speakers, also for the gifts to himself, Mrs Robertson, and sons. Supper was served by the ladies’

committee, all joined in singing “Auld Lang Syne,” and the Rev. Robertson pronounced the Benediction. Apologies were received for the absence of Dr. and Mrs R. L. Withers, Mr and Mrs H. A. Trumper, Mr and Mrs A. C. Middleton, Mr and Mrs J. iMcGivern (Christchurch), Marlborough Presbytery, Mr and Mrs Jock Kennedy, Miss L. Davidson, Miss M. Davies. Messrs A. B. Clark, L. Kennedy, H. Brown, and a message of goodwill was received from Miss M. Wells (Nelson).
