A mesage from Blenheim reports the death of Mrs E. A. Weld, wife of Mr E. A. Weld, of Flaxmero, and daughter-in-law of the late Sir Frederick A. Weld, Premier of New Zealand, 1864-6.*. On the casting vote of the chairman (Mr H .J. Otley) the North Canterbury Hospital Board decided not to raise the salaries and wages of all those in the board’s service receiving £lOO and less a year by 5 per cent. It was the third attempt to have an increase made. The motion stood in the n%me of Mr W. P. Spencer.
