WRESTLING.

MICHOT TAKEN TO HOSPITAL. WELLINGTON, May 7. The wrestling season opened here somewhat dramatically to-night, when Fred Meyer incapacitated Rene Michot, tho French champion, in the seventh round of a medium-pace rough contest. Michot was removed to hospital in an ambulance for an X-ray examination of a badly-strained neck, which he suffered when Meyer applied a sudden headlock in an attempt to remove the Frenchman from a posture on the mat. resembling a squatting Oriental. Michot gained a fall in the fourth round with a dump. Jolting and slapping, chiefly from Meyer, marred the contest. SHIRINA BEATS SANTEN. AUCKLAND, May 7. The wrestling season opened when two recent overseas arrivals were matched at the Town Hall. They were Charlie Santen, 15st 121 b, and Oki Shikina, lost 21b. The latter, a Japanese, secured the only fall in the seventh round by means of an arm bar and press, following a heavy buttock throw.
