CHEVIOT TROTTING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Cheviot ' Trotting Club was held in the Public Library on Saturday night, Mr John Fleming (President) was in the Chair and there was a fair attendance. The President presented the report of the last season’s meeting and work and expressed regret at th? financial position of rhe Club. The success of the race meeting was due to the support given by the owners ’ and trainers coupled with a line day. The President suggested the erection of twenty horse stalls which would be of great convenience to the owners and trainers. He thanked the committee and officials for the loyal support accorded him during his term of office. Alterations to rules regarding the circulation of the balance-sheet and report were left to the newly .elected committee. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring President, Mr Fleming, who had had •» strenuous time during the year. Meetings were held by the outgoing and new ly-elected committees. The New Zealand Racing Conference forwarded account for levies for 1931-32 and drawing attention to the reductions to the extent of £l2O. The New Zealand Trotting Association advised that the Department of Internal Affairs had stated that the totalisator investments were to be refunded in full where a horse was withdrawn from a race before the totalisator closed. The Association also advised that Mr F. J. Beer had been appointed stipendiary steward for the next meeting. A sub-committee was appointed to deal with the duties of secretary and treasurer and draw up alterations to the Rules cf the Club. It was agreed to advertise inviting applications for the position of secretary. A general meeting was arranged for January 13. Officials for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—Patron, Rt. Hon. Renner; Clerk of Course, Mr P. M. Kerr; Time-keepers, Messrs W. 7T. Moir and J. J. Mackie: Hon. Surgeons, Doctors M. E. Irwin, R. L. Withers, S. S. Hunter, F. P. Furkett, and G. I. Miller; Hon. Vet. Surgeons Messrs H. S. S. Kyle, M.P., and Mr John Munro; Hon Treasurer, Mr J. Y. Moir. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
