THE TALKIES.
“YOUNG DONOVAN’S KID.” On Friday and Saturday nights picture patrons are promised a rare cinema treat, when Rex Beach’s story “Big Brother,” shown as “Young Donovan’s Kid,” will be presented. It is described as a different gang story, and has to do with the romantic period of gang history, dealing with the Car Barn mob in the pre-war days of New York. No cannon stuff in those days, no taking for a ride, just the sincere, untarnished dramatic presentation of men who lived by violence, of gangsters who listened to religion occasionally, and who tried to go straight, not because of consequence, but because of love. The stars in this talkie picture are Richard Dix, Jackie Cooper, and Frank Sheridan. In addition to the feature picture there will be two comedies, entitled * ‘The Magnate,” and “Talking Turkey,” and a cartoon, ‘‘Toby in Aces Up.”
