Those who attend can be assuret 1 of an enjoyable time. A special car will leave Curran’s garage at 4 a.m. on Saturday (connecting with train at Parnassus) for the football match, Australia v. Canterbury. The service returns the same evening, and cheap excursion fares arc available. “The Optimists” paid a visit to Ward on Tuesday evening, and, despite the inclement weather, were greeted by a very good house. Every item was well received. The visitors were entertained at supper after the performance, and left for home at 11.30. Footballers and other sports arc requested to meet at the Club Hotel on Sunday to extend a welcome to the Australian footballers. There was a fair attendance at the monthly meeting of the Presbyteiian Ladies’ Guild. Airs T. Stevenson presided.
