THE CLARENCE BRIDGE.

There are indications now that- the work of restoring the Clarence Bridge will proceed with more alacrity. A pair of cylinders on the northern abutment arc now in position, and sinking will commence this week. Preparations arc also being made for the second set of cylinders. Two engines of 16 and .20 horse-power respectively are on the site in position for work, and all the bridge material is either on hand or in sight. An up-to-date screwing machine has been installed in readiness for bolting operations. men are novsfi engaged on the work at the bridge, and every effort will bo made to expedite the constructional work. A pleasing feature at the bridge is the installation of a cage capable of transferring five passengers across the river, thus ensuring certainty of passengers connecting up with motor-cars. The punts, are expected to be in working order some time this week.
