LABOUR PARTY
SEVERITY OF ADMINISTRATION. WALTER ELLIOT’S CLAIMS. (United Press Assn—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON. March 28. Morrison describes the Daily Express’ story that the Labourites of tba London County Council propose to abolish the means test as inaccurate, as it can only be done by Parliament, but Labour in due course will remove the excessive severity of the administration which characterised its policy in the East Councl.
The Daily Herald’s political correspnodent asks: What is Walter Elliot up to? What is he aiming at? He is no respecter of parties and his influence extends to wherever the young men idea is being spread assiduously. - He is a man of destiny, who will lead youth, but of the dead bones, which politics is said to have become, the old men are watching jealously. There is much speculation
as to what will happen when he decides to come into the open. It is clear that sooner or later he intends to bid for the leadership.
