The arrested man was born in Christ church and is a son of William Bicfc j erton, of Wellington, and a grabdso: of the late Professor Bickerton, a n<| , able member of the early staff of Can terbury College. Maxwell Bickerton was born in 1901 at Wainotai and attended the New Brighton School, going on to the Boys’ High School. He later attended Cantferbury College and after graduating left for the North Island about ten years ago to take up a teaching 'position. A few years' ago he left for Japan and in Tokio made a specialty of instruction in English. He is a
