TRUCKS DERAILED.
INCLUDING OIL TANKER. (Per United Press Assn.) CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Three trucks, including a 30 ton petrol tanker fully loaded, attached to the middle section of the 3.30 pan. goods’ train from Lyttelton to Christchurch,
were derailed at Heathscote this afternoon while leaving the shunting line on- the south side of the main track. The train was moving slowly at the time and pulled tip almost immediately in time to save the following trucks and tankers from jumping the line. The derailed trucks were not hadly damaged, and two of them were moved off in the early evening. | The petrol tanker containing 5.000 j gallons of Europa spirit, came to a rest almost on its side, firmly up against a solid power pole. If the pole had not been there the tanker weighing 34 tons might have rolled completely over, dragging more trucks Wl ’piere was no fire and no leakage.
