Britain in Sound Position The Daily Mail, in a leader, says : Despite her difficulties, Britain is in a distinctly better position than her neighbours in a sorely-troubled world. Germany is on the brink of a great political adventure, in which it is hoped the Hitler Government will practise moderation. France is gripped by a grim financial struggle and her anxieties are increased by the German Nazi Government. America is still confronted with an economic crisis and South America is defaulting on an unprecedented scale, owing to a fall in prices. Britain’s anxiety is still great in regard to the world, but things in the Empire are more cheerful. Australia and New Zealand have passed through deep waters but both are apparently well advanced towards r< <<v ;y. South Africa's virtual abandonment of the gold standard is stimulating industry and has started a mining shares boom.
