GANDHI’S IMPRISONMENT
TO BE CONTINUED PENDING DISSOCIATION PROM CIVII. DISOBEDIENCE (United press Assn. —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) CALCUTTA, October 27. The Viceroy, replying to a letter from Maulana Ali, a prominent Moslem leader, reiterated the Government's intention of not releasing Gandhi till he dissociates himself fTom the civil disobedience movement. It is generally recognised that disobedience is dying under the firm handling by tbe Government. Though the Nationalist Press pretend that there are still sixty thousand Congressmen throughout India imprisoned, the actual figure is only nineteen thousand and is rapidly falling. The majority of those released are refraining from returning to their old ways.
