TYPOGRAPHICAL DISPUTE
before conciliation councii (Per United Prose Assn.) I WELLINGTON, Last Night. No agreement was reached hy the Conciliation Council at the hearing of the dispute between the Typographical Workers and Employers. A deadlock was reached on the wages issue. Proceedings were adjourned until November 15th. when the hearing will lie resumed.
It was agreed to hold over the disputed classification clause and discuss the wages clauses which are the prim ciple points of contention.
The employers’ wages proposals provtded for reduction of approximately 10 per cent from the „ et rates now being paid. :° rkerS ’ C ° Untcr Proposals are on the basis of the existing award. The discussion on the wages clauses occupied the greater part of the day. Although concessions were mentioned and considered, no finality was reach’ea. I -rlle adjournment decided upon is in I accordance with requirements of the amended Act. If no agreement is come to by November 15th, the present award Will expire one month from the date
if commencement of conciliation profeedings.
