MR P\T7L*C. ’TOT MKS The death took place at Reef’on Hospital last evening of Mr Paul C. Holmes, a well-known miner employed on the Waltahu Sluicing Company’s race. The deceased was brought into the Hospital at an early hour on Friday morning and operated on for a long star A ing complaint, and, th nigh be came through the ordeal we’l, little hope was held out for his recovery, and be passed awav as staled. The late Mr Holmes had been employed at the Globe m-'ne in its palmy days, and was for a long time employed at the Rlark. water mine at Waiuta. He was 55 years of age. and bis brother, Mr Freeman Holmes, the wellknown horse Irnlner. resides at Rlccarton.
