SEAMEN’S STRIKE

THREATENED BY DUTCHMEN OWING TO REDUCED PAY OFFERED (United Press Assn—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) ROTTERDAM, August 29. A strike of seamen is threatened owing to the shipowners’ exploitation oi the sterling exchange. A flw| t. owing to losses, tried to induce its employees to accept a reduc tion but the seamen’s union refused. The firm thereupon sold its ships to an English firm, who rechartered them, manned by British seamen at cheaper pay, British seamen’s sterling" being less than Dutchmen’s florins. The Dutch seamen’s union threatens to call a strike of all Rotterdam seamen unless the firm reverts to its former position.
