WAGES CUTS
REFUSED TO CITY GAS COMPANIES GRANTED TO SMALLER PLACES. (United Press Assn—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, Last Night. The Arbitration Court refused applications by Melbourne and Hobart Gas Companies for a ten per cent reduction in wages. Judge Detheridge declared the Court would not help privileged, prosperous monopolies. Application by the Victorian Country and Launceston Companies were granted because tbe business slumped.
