Reefton Athletic and Cycling Club

All those with any Interest in sport will be more than gratified to hear that athletics has been revived once again in this district. It is the intention ol the above body to hold a large sports gathering on the Racecourse on 28th March, (Easter Monday). All branches ot sports aie catered lor and the date is in running with the other fixtures on the Coast, thus bringing Reefton into the circuit and ensuing good outside entries and a high standard of athletics. The prize money taken over all is not beaten on the Coast, the big sum of being offered. In the running events, there are a number of good events Including a Sheffield 120 yards and other £5 races. In the cycling races, cyclists are well catered for, there being plenty of races, prizes ranging up to £S Chopping naturally has a big say, and there are numerous events including sawing. The big chop of £2B is bound to draw entries from all over. Ladies’ events, field events and children’s events are also well in front. It now behoves the public oi Reefton to rally round and give every support to the gathering, and so make it a recurring annual event of ever increasing magnitude, A tug-of-war, five men a side, for a good prize should attract quite a number of teams from round about.
