PLUNKET SHIELD. OTAGO V. WELUNGTON. WELLINGTON SCORES 283 FOR 9 WICKETS. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Last Night. A Plunket Shield match between Otago and Wellington commenced toi day in showery weather on an easy wicket. Light rain fell all the morning, in•reasing to heavier showers in the afternoon, which necessitated a stoppage of an hour and a half. The visitors won the toss and elect'd to bat and when stumps were lrawn had lost nine wickets for 283 McGirr gave a good display of sound, correct batting, but i\ho best innings of the day was that of B&d---->,ock, who has been appointed coach to Otago Cricket Association. He jjave a sparkling exhibition of scoring ill round the wicked, timing perfectly and demonstrating his claim to be "regarded as a great batsman. He scored 62 in 72 minutes.
