Attempted Suicide.

Ji A Pathetic Case, "% Wellington, October i Butterworth, a mid* die aged infta,*formerly employed a * the Gear Coy's works, Petone, «hot himself this afternoon, under oai hetic circumstances. About a month ago his wife died, and since then the man had been very despondent. To-day he appeared at Petone Working Men's Glub, of which he was a member and, after spending about an hour there, part of the time playing the piano, Butterworth went outside into the yard at the back of the Club. Presently the sound of a shot was heard, and on a search being made Butterworth was found bleeding from a wound in the head inflicted by a bullet from a revolver which was lying beside him The man was removed to the hospital, where he liesjn a serious state. Butlerworth has one adopted child, a girl about four years old.
