Three ot the Crew Killed

WELLINGTON, This day. The Defence Minister had a communication from Captain Hall Tnr nuson, of the Philomel, which as is generally known, is operating somewhere east of Suez. The cap ain reports the following :- Three members of the crew lost their lives ia an action against the Turks on September 25th. They were—George Phillips, chief petty officer; George Richard Talmay> leading seaman: Bruce Sydney Beagley, able seaman.

They were all men of the Royal Navy lent for service with the Philomel. One died of heat stroke. They were on.the strength of two maxim gun crews, which were landed from the ship to co-operate with the forces ashore.
