A Terrible Accident
Taumarunui, This Day. A terrible accident occurred this morning on the Taringamotu Timber Coy's line, A train j of open trucks and a covered pas'senger car runs from Taringamotu to Watuhi. A number of Maoris travelled on an open truck, the pakehas travelling in a covered car. Apparently the train ran off the line as the truck overturned killing a Maori child and badly injuring its mother and breaking the legs of two Maori woman and the arm of another. Fortunately, the covered van saved the pakehas, who escaped injury.
