The Unemployed Debate. (By Electric Telegraph.) i'ei Frees Associations-copyright. London, March 4. In the unemployed debate, Mr Ramsay Mac Donald strongly objected 10 Mr Bum's contemptuous dismissal of farm colonies for women. If the Government did not believe in the Unemployed and Workmen's Act, it ; ought to be repealed. Hon Lloyd.George said the grants were only tiding over temporary difficulties and the mere provision of unnecessary w«.rk was demoralising the laborers. The amendment was rejected by 159 votes to 70. The Nationalists raised an obstructive debate because the police arrested Murphy Clonmel, editor, so early as six in the morning, instead of by summons.
