RACING.
Saya the London ' Correspondent of the Dunedin Star : — Mr Albert Calvert's Westralian party had a royal bank holiday at Kempfcon on Monday, when Bridegroom partially made up for his Lincoln defeat by romping home an easy winner for the Queea's Prize, of 1.00 sovs, run over the Jubilee oour3e. There was muoh to be done iu tha betting line, aa' the ring only [offered evens against the son of Sweetheart and Goldsmith Maid ; but the race was a big public trial for the Jubilee Stakes next momh, and over that we may expect a sumptuous plunge. In the first race at Kempfcon on ■ the same day Lord W. Beresford ran the New Zealand bred Bombshell If and Mr " Jersey " the Australian bred Merman. The libera! odds of 100 to 7 offered against either in a field of eleven platers did nor, however, tempt me to back them, and as a matter of faot, both finished in the ruck.
