The ordinary half-yearly meeting of shareholders was held at the office of JKiS£ on Friday, oveuipg.lasfc,

At the bottom .of the shaft a chamber has*'beeh formed, and prep_arations.inade.to drive a low level north to the eastern reef, which will ghc 200 ft. of backs. The winze put down on thO: reef ou the Boatman's Gveqk;uppec : level has reached a depth of 105 ft., and the existence of payable stone to that depth has therefore been certainly proved by former crushinga. The distance between the main shaft and the winze in question is about 800 ft., but the level, as well as opening up the Imperial line of reef, which is within 50ft. of the shaft, will 'also prospect the Boatman's '■'s^y^sjsjfa Ww_feh^d*e^^wls^e^ to£ as'^ell -as several other runs of stone Rowing in that part of the lease. The western cioss-cut, driven jointly with the Walhalla Company, along the boundary of the two leases, has reached a distance of 375 ft. The erection of the winding wheel and gear will be completed in about five weeks. The Imperial Company have purchased a half interest in the main shaft, paying half the cost of construction, together with bank in- , tejjesfc on the amount expended, the

cost of maintenance of the shaft to bo in future borne jointly by the two companies. As soon as the winding wheel is finished the mine will be in a fair way for systematic working, and as>6pe , rstf6ns| oan finis be carried on much more economically, shareholders may look to the future with confidence.

> s .Tha, total, distance driven on the track of the reef going south is now 200 ft. The drive still carries welldefined walls, and leaders ai'e frequently met with, some of which showed gold freely. It will take six or eight weeks yet to reach the point at which it is intended to open out.
