Original Correspondence.

The following letter was refused insertion by the Inaugah.ua Herald. (To the Editor, Inwoahua Times.) Sib,— Mr Gardner has been making a great fuss about the survey he made Ifor the Fiery Cross Company, and wilfully trying to put the mistake he made on to my shoulders in a very mean and unmanly way, by stating in a letter to the Inan<>ahua Herald, that I did not follow The course he gave me. The man surely has no conscience, when he knows perfectly well he told me to turn the drive to the Southard, and in the presence of the two men working there at the time, who are both prepared to swear the same in the witness box. And again, when I started to rise he told me to be sure and keep well to the southard, which I can also prove [n answer to Mr Watkins, he had a right :o get the bearing and measurements jiven to me by Mr Gardner, before he sould say anything about the survey, and is for Mr Barr, he knows nothing what- ] jver about the survey, and I advise him ' or the future to mind his own business i

and not interfere with mine. In conclu-j sion, I beg to inform Mr Gardner that I j hold his measurements and bearings in his 1 own hand-writing, and if he is inclined to : investigate the matter further, I give him ! a good chance, by statiug distinctly, the reports is right, aud Mr Gardner is wrong I remain etc. Henuy Cukrie. Boatmans, 9th May, 1883.
