Mtackay junr. La*t night a committee of six were appointed, who canvassed the city for signatures to a petition praying for Mackay's liberation, while another copy was deposited in a central place in tdwn for signature. Over a thousand \ names were obtained in a few hours, and the petition handed by several members of the House to the Minister of Justice, h to be laid^by bim before the Governor i this evening.
