THE Hauraki Plains Gazette With which is Incorporated THE OHINEMURI GAZETTE MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, FRIDAY “Public Service” MONDAY, DECEMBER 11, 1950 THE CHRISTMAS RUSH
In the next two weeks the burden of the Christmas season will fall with growing weight chiefly upon one State department, the ?ost and Telegraph. To the employees of this department December is an exhausting month whose demands are cheerfully borne in the knowledge that Christmas would not have half its meaning without the .willing help of this key department. For its part the public can best show its appreciation by consideration for the postal and telegraphic staffs. Early postings so as to avoid the final hectic week are of great assistance. The legible addressing and secure wrapping of parcels save endless confusion and delays and ensure prompt delivery. Full addresses on letters, cards and telegrams also are of importance when the pressure is on and when emergency staffs are called in for sorting and delivery. Consideration of this nature is the kind of courtesy that should ■ be looked for from the public at a period of the year when goodwill and thoughtfulness for others is the keynote.
