COMING OF AGE

MISS PAULINE COSTELLO 200 AT THE PARTY To celebrate the coming of age of their eldest daughter, Pauline, Mr and Mrs E. Costello entertained about 200 friends and relations in the Patetonga hall recently. To receive the guests Pauline looked very sweet in a frock of wine with gold accessories, while Mrs Costello wore a black frock relieved with blue, with a shoulder spray of'■blue. Pauline’s should spray was of cream roses. The evening was spent in dancing. During the evening the Misses Clark’s sang “Dear Hearts and Gentle People” and Miss M. Spice sang “I’ll Walk Beside You” and “Just a Song at Twilight.” In welcoming the guests Mr Costello, or “Ned” as he is familarily known to most people, expressed* his pleasure at being able to entertain so many old friends and relations on such an occasion and* hoped they would all enjoy the evening. Mr Norman Wallace, a very old friend of the family, then proposed the toast to Pauline, saying how proud the Patetonga people were of her. She had served them faithfully on the telephone exchange for some time and had then decided to take pp nursing at Kingseat. She was now near the end of her training there. A very hearty toast to Pauline was then honoured.

Pauline replied, thanking her mother and father for giving her the party and all the people who had attended to make the evening such a success. She expressed l her thanks for the beautiful array of presents she had received and to those who had contributed to the programme of the evening. Music for dancing was supplied by Mrs Les Clark, Mr Doug Hunter (drums) and Mrs C. Scott (violin). A most sumptuous supper was served buffet style.
