TROUBLE AT 'WHENUAKITE
RECENT MEETING OF FARMERS
Considerable trouble in the Coro-tglen-Whenuakite area has been experienced. from straying stock, and the last meeting of that branch of Federated! Farmer's decided to send a remit to the sub-provincial executive dealing with the matter. Also, at the last meeting the branch discussed the closing of the Coroglen and Whenuakite post offices. Mr H. Cory-Wright presented the Licensing
Commission’s report on hotel accommodation at Tairua, and Mr James z Hinton gave a report on transport affairs and bridging and road matters. Mr W. A. Hamilton mentioned flooding 4t Hikuai and urged the building of the road on a higher level so that flood waters would hot cover it so deeply. In the recent flood that cream lorry was held up for 24 hours. Another remit to go forward to the sub-provincial executive is concerning high school hostels. The proposal to establish a district high school at Mercury Bay was discussed 1 , brought forward by the Coroglen members. Criticism was expressed of the Whenuakite district’s delegates’ supporting the motion that the high school be built at the Bay. It was felt that it would be better situated at Coroglen.
