BOROUGHS of Paeroa, Te Aroha, Waihi and Thames. COUNTIES of Hauraki Plains, Ohinemuri, Coromandel and Thames. ABSENTEE VOTING is NOT provided for in the Regulations. The only grounds on which a Postal Vote can be issued are— Any elector of a district of a local authority whose name is on the roll of that local authority and who: (a) Will throughout the hours of polling on polling day be travelling under conditions which will preclude him .:. from attending at a duly-appointed polling place to vote. (b) Is ill or infirm and by reason of his illness or infirmity will be precluded from attending at a duly-appointed polling place to vote, or, in the case of a woman, will by approaching or recent maternity be precluded from attending at a duly-appointed polling place to vote. (c) Has a religious objection to attending at a polling place to vote on the day of the week on which polling day falls. ; . THE FOLLOWING POINTS SHOULD BE NOTED (1) Postal votes can be exercised only by persons whose names are on the roll. (2) Application Forms are obtainable from the Returning Officer at your Local Authority Office. (3) Returning Officers only are authorised to issue the Postal Voting Papers. y (4) Postal Voting Papers will not be obtainable in the Polling Booths on Polling Day. (5) Postal Voting Papers are obtainable during the (21) twenty-one days prior to the closing of the Poll. (Please apply early.) (6) Read carefully the directions on the Declaration Form. (7) Note that Postal Voting Papers when completed are to. be enclosed in the special envelope provided, and with the completed Declaration Form are to be enclosed together in the envelope addressed to the Returning Officer. This must be in the hands of the Returning Officer not later than 7 p.m. on. Saturday, November 18, 1950. Postal Votes will not be accepted at Polling Places. (8) If posted, votes must reach the Returning Officer before the close of the Poll, otherwise they will be disallowed. It will be unsafe to forward by post after Thursday, November 16, 1950. M. C.
