PLAINS WATER
TWO PROPOSALS WAITAWHETA FAVOURED QUESTION OF SUBSIDIES At a special meeting held at Ngatea on Wednesday, the Hauraki Plains County Council decided to submit two water supply proposals to the Minister of Works so that they might be examined by the Government departments concerned prior to the council sending a deputation to Wellington seeking details of the subsidies available on both schemes. The two schemes affected are:— (1) The Waitawheta where the Hauraki Plains County Council hope to share with the Paeroa BoroughCouncil an ;18-inch main from Kennedy’s intake to the Paeroa Post Office, add then carry on- on. its own.
(2) The harnessing of the Ngarua stream which is situated in thewestern hills of the Hauraki Plains County.
The council, ahhouigh not unasu-' mous, after taking into consider-
ation the Water available and ithle future waiter requirements of the county, decided to flavour the Waitawheta proposal, although both schemes will be submitted to the Government for a statement regarding subsidies.
