TE AROHA FACTORY

FIRE IN STOREROOM

HEAVY LOSS SUFFERED

Although a heavy loss was suffered in the trading department and the factory storeroom of the Te ArohaThames Valley Co-operative Dairjr Co. Ltd., in the fire which occurred at 9.20 p.m. Wednesday, the factory itself was undamaged and production was not affected.

When the Gazette was in touch with the manager of the factory on Thursday morning, he advised that the butter factory was carrying on as usual, although the milk powder department would possibly be out of-pro-duction for a day or so, due to water

damhge. The fire had a good hold when the brigade arrived and fanned by the strong breeze, the flames totally destroyed the department and. factory storeroom. Insurance was held by the Liverpool, London and Globe Insurance Co. '

TURUA FACTORY

UP-TO-DATE PLANT

The installation of all machinery at the ‘Te Aroha-Thames Valley Cooperative Dairy Co. Ltd’s. Turua factory, has now been completed the plant being one of the latest French casein dryers, possibly the most modem ‘ machine for this work in New Zealand at present. The company hopes to manufacture ‘ four tons of casein a day. The whole building at Turua has been remodelled: to convert the factory to an up-to-date unit.
