XMAS PERIOD
COMMUNITY LIGHTING REQUEST TO THE BOARD CANNOT MAKE ANY PROMISE “Should there not be a relaxation of the community lighting restrictions at the Christmas period?” asked Mr P. 0. Downes, at the October meeting of the Thames Valley Electric-Power Board held in Te Aroha.
Restrictions became boring and the season was then one for making merry. If possible he would like to see an easing of the restrictions. The chairman, Mir J. F. Mayn, drew attention to the most difficult supply position and in present circumstances no promise could be made.
Mr W. A. Rushton said that during the holiday period there would not ;be thle industrial consumption and
people no doubt expected a relaxing of the regulations. Mr Edwin Edwards made the suggestion that as the board could not anticipate what the hydraulic conditions would be at Christmas time, that a reply be given that the board was most sympathetic and anxious to assist in every way with community lighting during the Christmas shopping period and that the board would consider the question of the relaxing of restrictions when the time arrived and would have to be guided by the conditions prevailing then.
