DRIVERLESS TRUCK
CAREERS ACROSS -ROAD ACCIDENT IN BELM|ONT ROAD An unusual accident occurred in Belmont road, Paeroa, on Wednesday afternoon last when a driverless 30 cwt. truck, belonging to Mr C. Gleadow of Paeroa, careered out of Linn’s Service Station across the road and crashed into the stationary new fiveton truck belonging to Mr R. Short, of Paeroa. Mr Gleadow’s truck had been upon the hoist in the service station and its driver, Mr F. Kinred, cranked it upon the truck 'being lowered to the ground. It was unfortunately in gear, with the result’that it immediately shot across the road. The front of Mr .Short’s truck was considerably damaged but little harm was done to the runaway vehicle.
